PHP 4, PHP 5, PHP 7 and PHP 8 Support
What's the real difference between PHP 4, PHP 5, PHP 7 and PHP 8? Why is it preferable to have them all available? How can you switch between them?
PHP, which is a backronym for PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor, is amongst the most popular reflective programming languages available out there. Any website or application created in PHP will run on a given web server on the condition that a PHP module is installed, which makes the language really universal and it’s not really that unusual that there are actually several million web servers that support it and 100s of millions of PHP-driven websites hosted on them. PHP is preferred over HTML due to the fact that it allows you to develop an interactive website with a ton of features. A PHP-based community website, for instance, will display unique web content to each user although the page URL won’t change. In contrast, HTML-based sites are static and the content on the pages can be updated only manually. Like any other software program, PHP has several versions and the version that was used while setting up a specific website must be available on the server in order for the site to behave flawlessly.

PHP 4, PHP 5, PHP 7 and PHP 8 Support in Cloud Hosting
With our cloud plans, you will be able to choose the version of PHP that will be enabled for your hosting account, since we offer support for different versions. With only one click, you’ll be able to switch between PHP 4, 5, 7 and anytime a new version is published in the future, we’ll include it in the Hepsia hosting Control Panel without removing the earlier ones. Thus, you will be able to host all the sites that you’ve set up through the years. In stark contrast with a lot of other web hosts, we won’t compel you to update such websites, as a script may be outdated, but this doesn’t necessarily mean that it is vulnerable since you may have done modifications to its source code to patch security loopholes. For your convenience’s sake, you will even be able to choose a different PHP version for each single site that you host in your hosting account.
- PHP 4, PHP 5, PHP 7 and PHP 8 Support in Semi-dedicated Servers
Even if your sites were built with an older PHP version, you will be able to host them in a semi-dedicated server account from us, as we support multiple versions running simultaneously on our semi-dedicated servers and each one of them can be enabled for your account with just a click of the mouse from our in-house built Hepsia hosting Control Panel. Other than the newest PHP 8, we also offer support for 5.2, 5.3, 5.4, 5.5, 5.6, 7.0, 7.1, 7.2, 7.3, 7.4 and the older PHP 4. The latter has already been abandoned by the majority of hosting vendors, but we trust that you should not be forced to modify a site that took several years to create, since older script language syntax does not necessarily equal security flaws. On the contrary, a well-maintained site using PHP 4 can be more secure than an incorrectly maintained one using PHP 5. For your convenience’s sake, we’ll also provide you with the possibility to choose a different version of PHP for each individual site within the account. - PHP 4, PHP 5, PHP 7 and PHP 8 Support in Semi-dedicated Servers
